    I did stop it for 2 weeks early in the treatment due to having to take a coupld other drugs that seemed to give me side effects. I just quit the plaquenil to give my liver a rest at that time. Plaquenil isn a antiparasitic drug with anti-inflammatory affect.

You should slowly taper off of methadone instead of quitting cold turkey.

    Over the years on this site we have had quite a few people post that they didn't think that the plaquenil was working so they would stop taking it. I have done a lot of research on this drug and haven't run into anybody who has complained of the withdrawal effect.

    Oct 29, 2007 Have been on methotrexate 20mg 8/@2.5mg for about a year and 1/2. Recently moved and have a new Rheumatoligist who did his own blood test and x-rays, according to him he cannot find the blood factor or damage to any joints to prove that I have RA. I would like to know can I stop taking methotrexate or do I have to ween off of it slowly? Or should I even be thinking of stopping the meds? I. The only thing that helped was stopping the plaquenil after feeling better and some time I thought I’d try it again after a flare. About a month in body feels itchy can’t get comfortable after stopping the 200mg a day my anxiety is scary never felt this bad the only thing I’ve found to help is benadryl it relaxes my body. I had to stop Plaquenil after a few days. I couldn't walk, was dizzy, my speech was slurred, blurry vision, etc. but, I'm the one who usually gets side effects. I know people who Plaquenil has worked wonders. The side effects cleared up within a week. I also have Sjorgens, and my eyes were dryer on Plaquenil, but the blurry vision was the worst.
