Ddo you have to stop plaquenil slowly

I did stop it for 2 weeks early in the treatment due to having to take a coupld other drugs that seemed to give me side effects. I just quit the plaquenil to give my liver a rest at that time. Plaquenil isn a antiparasitic drug with anti-inflammatory affect.

How to use Plaquenil. Hydroxychloroquine is usually taken with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. The dosage and length of treatment are based on your medical condition and response to therapy. In children, dosage is also based on weight. YES.stopping plaquenil for a couple of days can cause symptoms to arise or get worse.needs to be taken exactly as prescribed. Twice a day, every day. Missing one dose wont make a major difference but skipping more then one, or days absolutely can. It happened to me when I ran out of it and waited to get my refil. Will never do that again. Hi, for anyone that's been on plaquenil long term i've been on more than 2 1/2 years, have you had any moderate to bad flares or flares that dont' seem to go away while taking this med? Or has anyone found that plaquenil stopped working after some time? I've been in some sort of flare for 6 weeks

Over the years on this site we have had quite a few people post that they didn't think that the plaquenil was working so they would stop taking it. I have done a lot of research on this drug and haven't run into anybody who has complained of the withdrawal effect.

  7. Saturday was a week since I stopped taking Plaquenil, aka Hydroxychloroquine, per my doctor's instructions, and I think I am going through some form of withdrawal. I took the drug as a treatment for sarcoidosis and one of the side effects is a reduction in white blood cells, which is what has happened to me. Plaquenil

    • Immune & Autoimmune - Lupus Flares While Taking Plaquenil.
    • Stopping Methotrexate - Arthritis Information.

In rare cases, Plaquenil can cause cardiomyopathy, a chronic disease of the heart muscle. If you're taking Plaquenil for an autoimmune condition, your symptoms should begin to improve after a few. Though Plaquenil is generally regarded as safe during pregnancy, it is recommended that effective birth control is used throughout the course of Plaquenil treatment and for up to six months after treatment is stopped. Plaquenil is supposed to stay in your system for 1-2 months after you stop taking it. Try to rest, stay hydrated and away from sick ppl for now and hopefully you will not have any issues
